Burnt Brick/Clay Brick/Fly Ash Brick

Water absorption test on bricks are done to determine durability property of bricks such as degree of burning, quality and behavior of bricks in weathering.

The ratio of dry weight to the volume of the brick. The brick is firstly cured in the tank and then dried in the oven to get the dry weight.

The brick is dipped in 25mm water until all the water is absorbed and is visually inspected for any colour change, moulds in the absorbed area.

Bricks should have a uniform standard size. Those bricks which do not follow standard size are not suitable for construction purposes and such bricks can only be used as a filling material.This test helps us to find the dimension of our bricks and also to check whether the brick we are using has a standard size or not.
